Bolt cutter for larger sizes
I reckon everyone is familiar with the wire strippers that include the handy shear for cutting #4 to #10 machine screws.
I was wondering if there’s a shear that can cut 1/4” bolts. I know it won’t be the same form factor, but I’m hoping there’s got to be something out there. I found one this one that you beat with a hammer, but that seems a little sub-optimal. https://aircraft-tool.com/shop/detail.aspx?id=ATS-SBC&AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1 Anybody know of something? |

Thats seems like something i would use quite often but in reality you would need to clean up the end anyway so you might as well just grind it off and get less distortion.

Had a a hacksaw & big bastard file ready , but never used it . I was surprised how good it was . https://www.hilti.com.om/c/CLS_INSTALLATION_SYS_7134/CLS_ACC_FOR_INSTALLATION_SYSTEMS_7134/CLS_ACCESSORY_ELEMENTS_7134/r2697 Just did a quick search , This is the latest & greatest . https://www.cpomilwaukee.com/factory-reconditioned-milwaukee-2872-80-m18-brushless-threaded-rod-cutter--tool-only-/milr2872-80.html?ref=pla&zmam=31282435&zmas=47&zmac=722&zmap=milr2872-80&gclid=Cj0KCQjw16KFBhCgARIsALB0g8IwCgxiKnr7BcoYP0BL OFF6_2AkAhou-m3LJrbSxZYa-6TUWWSScI0aAogxEALw_wcB |

Death wheel and a quick thread clean up with a hack saw always worked well for me.

I've always put a nut on the screw, cut it with a cut off wheel then thread the nut off the screw to clean the threads.

Another pelican gave me one of these deburring tools. (not the exact tool in the link, but similar)
https://www.amazon.com/Deburring-External-Chamfer-Tool-Damaged/dp/B07MPP2CY2?th=1 Works pretty well, though i've read that they don't always last very long.

A final cleanup with a bench-powered wire wheel removes remaining burrs that can hinder nut starting and rotation.
