Still More Monterey -- 911 Porn

Sorry for not having thumbnails. Here's a few of the 100+ pictures I have from Monterey. I'll try to get the whole set up on the web soon.

This one's too wide to post, but click here to see it.

That last one is a factory lightweight 73 RS that was converted (by the factory) to full RSR specs in 1976. Wow.

Hey, Jack, any chance of seeing a shot of those deep-dish Fuchs you run on BB2; like the shot of the blue car above?

Jack, great pics, as usual.

What is under that cowl forward of the gas filler? Is it a gauge of some kind?

Jack - great pictures (as usual)!

Adam - It's a mirror - based on the style used on 718 RSK's & GT speedsters.

Thanx for the juicy wheel pics. Those raw finished anodized rims look SOOOO good! A serious, purposeful, no BS look, as a Porsche should have.

Why would anyone want to chrome Fuchs wheels.

Very nice! Is anybody going to make a link available to vast numbers of these kind of mind corrupting pictures. I need something else to distract me from my work here.

The dark grey is a Porsche color. It's unusual for a grey, in that it has no metal flake in it. I think Mercedes used a similar color for a while.

The 9x11x15 wheels are on a 76 Turbo, believe it or not, which crashed at a DE, and was rebuilt as an IROC-look car. The owner chucked the early Turbo powerplant and put in a 3.8-liter normally-aspirated motor. Needless to say, it goes like stink.

Oh, and did I mention that he drove it down from Oregon -- and that it's his daily driver?

He may be getting a set of 2-piece 17-inch Fuchs like mine for it, soon, since right now the Avon race tires are about all he can find for the 15-inch wheels. He had this set cut with deep grooves to make them mimic street tires.

Adam - I'm guessing slate grey (the colour my car last was at about the end of the 80s ).

Steve McQueen drove one that colour at the start of Le Mans (the movie). Sort of Coke coloured.

The grey '67 911S is slate grey, mostly original car w/ exception of high quality re-spray 15 yrs. ago, (in original color), it was bought new by a famous astronaut, (can't remember which one), the mirror is from a 904 and was factory installed, if memory serves. I have a lot of pictures of that car, it's one of my favorites.

Denis:

Its one of my favorites too. I talked to the owner; he's the fifth guy to own it The original owner was Walt Cunningham, one of the Apollo astronauts. Walt bought the car new in Germany.

Yes he made it, here's the story:http://www.elephantracing.com/project/babbar/0days.htm

He was cruzzing around with Jim (74911S, I think that's right).

Awesome, ear plugs hanging in the red car. It must be almost loud enough

Those early satin finish RSR wheels give me a woody!!
