1983 911 stumbles/misses

I have a 1983 911. Car runs great 90 percent of time but occasionally it will miss or stumble for just a couple seconds then goes back to running fine. It doesn't seem to speed related its done this at 20mph & 70.

Thnaks

The only way I can describe is it starts & runs very well. This issue is very intermittent. It only seems to happen after motor is warm but feels like it stops running for just a few seconds & then picks right up and runs fine. You just feel a pause & then it continues on like nothing happened.

Green wire maybe? Do a search for green wire.
Or coil going bad?

Sounds electrical to me. Good luck and let us know if you get it figured out.

The coil is only a year old but would be an easy part to change. I'll order a coil & look into green wire. Electric issues are not really my area of expertise.
Thanks

Ignition? Spray some water or windex on your ignition cables at idle and see what happens. That might tell you all you need to know.

Arching to ground or cross wire. Do it at night and you'll see if there's a problem.

If your ignition cables are screwed up silly.

Better still, take it to any mechanic and have him do it for you. He'll even be able to tell you which cable is causing the missfire and you'll never get your hands dirty.

I have heard of looking for arcing in the dark but had not heard of spraying water on it. Nice to learn something new. And I am only 63!
