How is the light pattern on these?
I worry that the projector shining light through the fluted lens will scatter the light awkwardly.

Has anyone using LED headlamps with city lights considered using LEDs in the city light socket? Wondering if they would be bright enough to use as DRLs if wired that way.

I am running the 9Eleven headlights with chrome trim ring and fluted lens. I chose them as the only lights I could find that had a fluted lens option for the retro look, but that didn’t impact the projectors light pattern.

I also fabricated adaptors to run Morimoto Sealed6 lights in the Cibie hood light housings. These have projector high and low beams and LED daytime running lights. They also have a fluted lens for a slightly retro look.

Driving Texas backroads and especially doing 85+ on the toll way at night is amazing, especially since we have have wild pigs and boars that like to roam. I personally like the black insert with the clear VW Bus glass with the black lens rings. I feel it gives the car a slightly updated look. The only thing I didn’t care for was the black backing fitment. It was oversized and required some trimming and overall a pain to seal with the rubber gasket. But once assembled I haven’t had any issues for the nearly 3yrs I’ve had them.

I don’t have any night shots but a couple along with a comparison of my 87 with a fellow PCA members 88.

Nice car! I'm pretty sure I saw yours in the Hill Country PCA magazine a couple years back! Are you in Austin?

Yep, it was, this last pic was the cover of Summer 2019. And yes I’m in Austin region, in Round Rock actually.

911 SC front LED

Made out of some beetle parts + 911 lens and rings...

Needed some twiking and modifcations but was worth the effort.

Would be great to see what the other LEDs look like at night.

Cheers

The Philips Ultinon Pro 9000/9100 H4s as a drop in solution are outstanding--very bright with a sharp cutoff and perfect h4 beam pattern.

One step (maybe) forward and two steps back.

It's like wearing contacts and then putting on your moms prescription glasses simply because they're fashionable.

Four high beams would be ideal (if aimed correctly and the fluted lenses don't interrupt the focus)
