Clutch arm question (remounting)

Howdy-

Pulled the clutch arm off the 915 when I dropped the engine a few weeks ago. Remounting everything tonight, and am wondering the exact position I should place the larger clutch arm back onto the shaft-- I ask becuase the arm/shaft is splined and it looks like I could put it back on at a few different angles...haven't dug into this much yet...maybe it will be obvious when I get back under there...

Advice?

- BG

Da leg bone connected to the...oh heck!

When you get the spring mounted to the other arm, and then drop that onto its shaft and the helper spring "curl" onto the post on the trans, then pry that arm back to its "resting" position, it will become very evident where you have to put the splined arm in order to have a fighting chance to measure out the 1.2mm initial clearance.

I will note that it seems almost an impossibility that the arm/spring combo will snap back when you lever it, but it does and keep those fingers clear!

I'm not sure I fully understand the answer but hopefully I'll figure it out when I get under there tonight...

Just did this and it makes sense. If you sort of put the helper spring on and slide it all up there with the helper spring kind of backwards, you can squeeze the arm and the crossover exhaust tube together (I made a warrior grunt) and then the spring/arm will snap around into position...no wire tie or prying necessary...
