Monterey Historics Porsche Corral Anyone?
This morning I bought my Porsche Corral Parking pass for the 2021 Historics at Laguna Seca. ($185 with fee! ouch!) I'm all vaccinated up and feel confident it will be a somewhat normal event bar some seating arrangements and the wearing of face masks. I'm excited that this and other events (Werks etc) are going ahead, I look forward to this all year!
Anybody else bought tickets? https://am.ticketmaster.com/laguna/2021RMMR#/ Werks Reunion reservations start on 6/16, mark your calendars! Cheers -Kav. |

I’ll be at a campsite right above T5 and will also attend Werks.

Will be attending Monterey this year. A friend scored Quail tickets so we may miss Werks… or at least be very late

Is there a website for forum so someone, like me, who's never been, can get a feel for what things to do, where to stay, that sort of thing? I've been to the track but not for this event.

This is a good place to start @88911coupe
https://whatsupmonterey.com/article/activities/monterey-car-week-overview Also, expect all the events to be jam packed due to pent-up demand.

Camping too. Went for Pit Row Suite as Flag Room is cancelled. Crazy world. Just glad the show will go on this year!

If you have not done the pit row suite before you will not be disappointed. Ideal set up for those who want to see all the races, cars, and drivers up close.

Thanks Brian, that site it great, I need to get a feel for where everything takes place. I've been to Monterey and Carmel a LONG time ago but don't really have feel for where the events take place. It appears they are all over the place, including Laguna Seca which was amazing to actually see.

My '87 M491 coupe was accepted at The Quail, so I may miss Werks this year, or hit it very briefly first thing that morning en route to Quail Lodge. The car will also be at the BaT Alumni gathering at the Historics on Saturday. To say I'm excited for this year's festivities is an understatement.
@88911coupe , the '21 version isn't available yet, but this will give you a feel for the embarrassment of riches to be experienced... http://www.sportscarmarket.com/guides/MontereySupplement2019/mobile/index.html?doc=$docid My typical progression in recent years... Thurs: Historics Fri: Werks and / or Quail Sat: Concorso and / or Historics Sun: Pebble or Historics As you'll see from the guide, there are TONS of other things to do, like The Little Car show, Exotics on the Avenue, numerous auctions, etc., etc., etc. There are two keys: 1) lodging and 2) less is more. Unless you enjoy getting stuck in soul crushing traffic, don't try to hit "too many" events per day, unless proximity allows or you just have to check a box. Sometimes, two things a day are too many. If you have dinner downtown, you can pay $40 to get into the RM Sotheby's auction preview. Also, dinner reservations are almost as difficult to arrange as lodging.

Thanks Frank, this is exactly the info I need. My wife's on board with going, which is a bit of a shock, so now I need to figure out what she can do all day when I'm looking at cars...
I suspect lodging will be a major issue as you mentioned.

Great area to visit for "car stuff."
Great track for Porsche fans (I remember fondly the '98 Historics/Porsche 50th, RR IV-VI). Great time of year (I got married in Carmel many Augusts ago). I think Car Week may be especially well-attended this year. I hope so. I hope to hit the Werks Reunion-- one of my PCA friends runs those events for PCA. Have been to two previous Werks and always great to see friends and cars. For those interested in some shopping, one long time PCA member has a shop in downtown Carmel: https://pamplemousseboutique.com She and her husband used to transport their Porsches to track events with separate trucks and trailers. Their son is now a professional racing driver and coach. I am sure there will be a lot of traffic, but I think folks will have special appreciation for all of the events down there this year.

True that! I'd much rather be stuck in traffic on the Monterey peninsula in August than locked down at home.

@famoroso what color is your car? I will look for you to say hello at The Quail. Maybe you will get lucky and be near one of the delicious food tents ;-)

I was bummed to see Werks moved venues this year. Corral de Tierra Country Club was an outstanding location with terrific parking corrals as well as a wide open show field.
By contrast Bayonet Golf Course is farther away and the parking situation typically involves “off roading” through rutted dirt trails, over tree branches, etc and once parked walking much further to get to the concours grounds. I hope PCA can figure out a better way to handle things because after attending Concorso Italian in 2019 I said I would never go back there.
