Quick tire question - same size for 6" and 7" rims?

Seriously, this should be quick... (famous last words, I know...)

1977 911 S set to euro height, 6x16 Fuchs on front 7x16 on back.

I'm looking at the Dunlop Direzza 205/50/16 for both front and back and wanted to know if there was any downside to using the same tires for both size wheels or if I should fins staggered tires (super limiting though)

I don't track, no autocross, don't have any canyons in Chicago and won't really drive in winter once the salt goes down...

I did same size on the same wheel set as you describe. I went with 205/55/16 all around. No issues that I've found.

The Direzza ZIII comes in both 205/55/16 and 225/50/16.

The Direzza DZ102 appears to only come in 205/55/16. I assume this is the tire you are planning to purchase?

Personally, I would purchase the ZIII instead and run the 205 on the front and 225 on the rear. I like this tire.

I’m looking at the ZIII. I have a narrow bodied car so the 225 won’t fit without some serious negative camber without rubbing. And even then it’s questionable.

Whoops, that's my mistake.

In that case given your use, it should be fine.

I've mounted 205/55 to both 6" and 7" Fuchs for the front wheels.

Exactly... I run about 1.5 degrees negative camber in back with the 205/55/16 and no rubbing but it's tight.

I thought the factory made many changes over the years in an attempt to mitigate certain tail happy, high speed handling characteristics. Eventually they staggered the wheel sizes and then tire sizes. Handling improved incrementally at every up-grade. All that said, I'm usually in favor of doing what the factory did in a particular model year if all the other suspension componentry has remained OEM.
