RUF turbo on ebay / is it real?
For your approval, ladies and gentlemen...
Now, why is the pic of the dash not showing any of the gauges?

"The only thing that I did to the car was put in a brand new coil pack, and a bigger intercooler. .
There was $30,000 in extras done to the engine and under the car alone. It also has a very expensive stereo system." If he only put a bigger intercooler and a new coil pack on the car how does he come up with $30K in extras? This person sounds slick. But, it has been a bad day...

I guess these dont quilify for the only thing I did quote either.
" I recently (1,000 miles ago) put brand new tires, changed brakes, fuel filter, oil, hoses, and belts. Also I just put a brand new clutch in the car. I have NOT even driven the car 100 miles since the new clutch was put in." Looks like the real deal though but is that a good investment ? 36k is a lot of dough. Kurt Williams

the real question is, if it is a car for the german market you need to jupm through hoops to meke it streat legal for the US, ive heared that if customs catches you with a car smuggled in without proper paper work they will seize it.

Real RUF.... um no!
The only things RUF on this car are the wheels and steering wheel (which is not era correct). Have the seller send you the RUF VIN or number stamped on the engine case, then call RUF to verify. I suspect RUF will have no record of such a vehicle. The intake is some fabricated hybrid, the exhaust looks like a B&B, the Intercooler is a C2, etc. This car may have 3.5 liter RUF pistons, but that’s about it. |

Certainly looks nice, Ruf or no.
Maybe he meant there was $30,000 done to the engine before he got it. I think we all agree the engine doesn't look stock, even with the coil packs and intercooler (which is what, a couple grand by itself?). So if this isn't a real Ruf, what would a "normal" turbo with this equipment, mileage and in this condition go for? Around 30's? Just curious. Sherwood Lee http://members.rennlist.org/911pcars |

If you notice the guy says:
CARFAX report is completely clean and guarantee this 930 (original miles-no accidents). Its most likely just a nice 930. |

If it were a RUF wouldn't say "RUF" on the rear deck lid?

It is twin plugged. My guess is there is more going on than meets the eye.
What exactly, really depends on the documentation......... Tom |

If this thing is a RUF...then where's all the RUF badges???or maybe RUF forgot to have their badges on this one...

Lack of Ruf badges doesn't mean anything. I can call Weissach and get badges for ~$80. Doesn't make my SC a CTR.
Some Ruf cars started out as bare shells from Porsche and got a Ruf vin, but many were conversions of customer cars, which would have a Porsche vin and badges, unless the customer wanted them changed. Like I said, what this car is, really depends on what is documented. Tom |

Yep - it is possible this had engine work done at Ruf and Germany and then a C2 IC was put on it here. The C2 intercooler is definitely better than the 80s RUF intercooler. The 3.5 Ps & Cs are a bit odd as RUF prefers 3.4s.
As an aside, Euro VINs will register on Carfax if the car is registered here. My 860 930 was registered here in California in 1986 and has resided here ever since. Its Carfax report shows this, and all subsequent re-registrations. The only additional notation is that icarfax states the car was not built to U.S. specs (which, of course, is correct).

it's possible...I looked at a nice 993 that has been taken to Ruf for many upgrades...to include wheels, brakes, suspension, and turbo engine.
It's for sale here in Germany and it is US Spec. 58K euro.
