adding a turbo to an SC
What do people know about adding a turbo to an NA SC??
I'm toying with ideas and have seen that a few people have added turbos with quite a bit of success. I would be interested in what people think in terms of price/ value? thanks for you ideas. Eric |
Here's one way.

Is there a better way to turn 170HP into 300HP?

tsuter,
what did it take to TC your car?? did you buy a kit or build it yourself?? |
What I did was install a 930 motor in my car. I had to wire a 2nd fuel pump and an overboost protection circuit. If you want an intercooler you will have to have a tail. You will also need a better clutch because the stock one won't hold the power for very long. I paid around $5k for my motor but it had some issues. I have seen some other running 3.3L motor going for $8.5k. Then plan of $2k more for the little things.
If I were to do this whole thing again I might just buy a Porsche 930 and modify that. Just because I have more money in my car than I can get out of it. It doesn't really bother me, but it is something to consider. If you really want to turbo your car what I would consider is to build a turbo motor from your motor. Install lower comp piston and cyl. and EFI. |
My setup is fairly well detailed here. I will be getting it back together in the next couple weeks as I'm still waiting on my new fan to replace a broken one.
