Atlanta Pelicans - New Mtg Place

I stopped by Hennessy Porsche's new delaership on Mansell today to get some parts. Nice friendly folks and they are eager to get in with the local P-car activities.

I asked about having a Pelican mtg there one w'end morning and they said they would be glad to. We could get a tour of their new facility and whatever (test drive turbos?). Anyway we have to give them a heads up on date and # of folks to expect.

Anyone have ideas for a Saturday date? Saturday's are tough for some folks so I'll see if they are open on Sunday.

I am going to stop in there tomorrow and look around. I saw some adds for hiring mechanics and such in Auto week and a few other mags. I bet a bunch of Ellis folks jumped on the shorter commute if they lived up there.

I'm easy, Saturdays or Sundays work for me....or is it I'm easy AND S/S work for me?

Next Saturday (5/17) is stormcrow's 2nd A/C tech session, so that day is out for me. Almost any other weekend is fine.

How about this saturday, 5/10? A bit close but sometimes this will work better. 5/17 is tied up with the AC clinic but after that is ok.

This Saturday (10th) I promised my babysitter I would attend her high school car show in support of band (or something). Runs from 8am to 2pm but I don't intend on being there the whole time.

If anyone else is interested, it is at South Forsyth High School. Take exit 13 off the 400, turn right and go South on 141. It's on the East side of the street. I think they want $15 advance registration, $18 at the door. Didn't know school band uniforms were so expensive, but I did promise to attend.

How does the 24th grab everyone as the date to visit Hennesey? Or any Sunday will do fine but I don't think the dealership will go for that.

South Forsyth is about 5 miles north of me.... and I had no clue there was going to be a car show. Thanks for the info!

Stopped on there, nice folks. A little freaked ou though. I was thinking about using my $100 coupon on Turbo tie rods for the 73. They searched all over and had no idea what I was talking about. They even brought out the PET parts print out to see if we were talking about the same thing??? No one had heard of the Turbo Tie rod update for non Turbo cars???

That seems odd to me....

...just buy the T-shirt!

Actually don't bother. I have a very nice Porsche fleece pull over - $6 for the fabric Porche logo, $16 for the Old Navy fleece sweater. A bit of time with needle and thread and, voila! Instant trendoid!

Didn't know about turbo tie rod kits? When I stopped by the other day the computers were not up and running, so they had to manually look for the a/c drier. I think they need time to get organized...so this Saturday may be too early. I was thinking maybe Saturday over Memorial day w'end? I probably will go to Chris' high school car show this Saturday.

I ended up using my coupon at Sunset Porsche in Oregon. They are selling all parts at dealer cost +15% +shipping, no tax, so with the coupon I got a good deal on stuff I needed. W/o the coupon it wouldn't have been a good deal.

That dealership is a short ride from my house. I have been observing the inventory unfold and its much more then Ellis has on their lot. If they are open, I would think they are planning a grand opening of sorts. Porsche is not into hot dogs, blow-up kids portable playgrounds or a giant godzilla hovering from the roof, but I did expect some type of formal announcement. Anyone know anything on that?

I am heading down to St. Augustine this weekend with the 911, for a nice getaway and road trip, but I would love to meet you folks over at that dealership sometime soon. It would be nice to support them in mass. I have to use that new PCA coupon and hope that their clothing inventory is good.

Please keep me posted.

Thanks
Bob

Their "official" grand opening was last Monday. The weather stunk. I drove thru the lot, no balloons, no hot dogs, no marching band, etc. I'll probably do a drive by later this morning to see how the inventory has grown.
