Surging Idle Problem Resolved
I had a surging/hunting idle when my 1984 3.2L got up to operating temp. I thought lowering the idle speed might resolve it, but it did not. Before I started digging into the vacuum hoses, I opted to check the torque on the intake manifold bolts (even tho I was convinced they would be tight). To my great surprise, EVERY bolt was loose. Although time consuming to get access (heater tubes, airbox, compressor, etc.) I was able to tighten all of them to spec (18 lb-ft per Bentley). Surging idle is gone. Hopefully this will help others dealing with this really annoying and frustrating issue.
