MFI pump squealing - help

My car has been squealing on startup. I diagnosed by first removing the fan belt. I spun the alternator by hand and there was no grinding or bearing noise. I then started the car without the fan belt. Noise was still there.

The car has been leaking oil from the MFI cam, so today I pulled the heat exchanger, tins, and mfi belt. I popped in a new seal. Then I spun the mfi pulley and discovered my squeal. See video below.

I’m new to mfi, any idea what’s causing this?

The noise sounds similar to the chirping noise the MFI injectors make when they "fire" - normally you can't really distinguish the noise above all the other noises the engine makes as it's running. Maybe it just sounds similar because you are only able to turn the pump by hand intermittently.

It might be worth taking the pump off and having a look-see - maybe an issue with the bearing at the end of the pump - odd that it's only doing it at start-up - any other changes?

Sounds dry. I’d definitely check the small screen where the oil line enters while examining pump.

I do not disbelieve in anything. I start from the premise that everything is true until proved false. Everything is possible.

Is it possible to fire high pressure injectors like MFI ones, turning the pump by hand?

Are you able to localize the sound? I.e. pump vs. somewhere else? [edit - I guess to rule out injectors, but also to see which part of the pump is squealing, if possible]

No other changes. The car did sit for 10 years prior to me purchasing it. It was occasionally started. I spoke to Gus at PFI this morning and he said the seals and bearing are probably shot.

I'll be pulling it off for a rebuild.

Good advice. Maybe there is oil starvation at startup because of a clog or debri. As I increase the throttle, the noise does go away.
