Oil Level

Is there a lot of oil in the lower valve cover after the car has sat overnight? So, can you check valve lash w/o draining oil?

Why do you need to check lash? You may be able to do this by jacking up one side of the car to have it drain into the sump. I have done this after an adjustment and had one ticking valve.

i do not really see a big deal to drain the engine oil to a clean bucket..usually 3 Q of oil..then do the valve adjustment s and put it back ....Just put the car on jack stand and be safe..this way the 911 is balanced ..oh ya replace the drain plus alu.seal while you are at it.

I pull my valve covers with oil in it. just have to keep a pan under it.
not much comes out, maybe a cup.
but I also try to let the oil level get down a little.

Do you jack up the side you’re working on or just go at it?

i suggest to never pour back any drained oil. Any impurities will not be caught by the oil filter
