I'll be reinstalling my engine/ transmission and have a question about the large washers that go on each side of the motor mount. What way do they go? They are cupped, when I removed them the cup was facing away from the rubber mount. That does not seem right to me. Seems like the cupped side should go twards the mount. The motor has been removed years ago by a dealer, but could of been put togeather wrong, or my thinking could be wrong. What way do they go?
Thanks

cup side up. top and bottom both. at least that's the way they are on an early car. late cars may only have a top one.

Personally, I don't think is makes a difference but the factory did it one way and then changed it with later cars. All I've seen (-89) have two large washers per motor mount.
-Chris EDIT: I don't remember when the change happened.

I think its cup-side down...on the top of the rear motor mounts, isn't that what you meant, Chris...as it applies to a 78 ??
---Wil Ferch PS- this is cup-side up on the bottom of the trans mounts, which are the same..

Wil is right. Both washer should "cup" the rubber.

Thanks, I thought the washers should cup the mount, but it was not that way when I took the motor out. I was just sitting around and looking at the new sport motor mounts (from Pelican) and it looked like it should be differnt than the way it was when I took the motor out. So cupped it will be.
Thanks
