Replacement door handle lever

I recently had the lever break on my door handle. upon checking the internet I found some replacement levers from Vertex for $40. I promptly bought 2 so as to have a spare. Upon installing the Vertex lever I found that it does not move the pin far enough to press the mechanism to open the door. Have I been scammed?

In a way you have. The lever has to be modified in order to activate the plunger enough. If you lay both levers next to each other on a table you will see that you have to grind away som material on the one from Vertex in order for it to move as much as the original.

Cheers

Here you can see what will have to be grinded off:

Handle

is this the lever you bought ?

i just had the same issue, purchased the one in the picture...

worked out great! actually better than the original one.

the breakdown of the original and re-assembly can be a bit tricky and you HAVE to pay attention but these work out GREAT.

this pin/spring/plunger does NOT need to be trimmed or modified..... slides right in and operates as it is supposed to.

Classic 911. Thank you so much for the tip. I did see that difference but didn't realize that is what was limiting the movement.

PRE-H20 thank you for posting that ad. I haven't seen that. Definitely worth buying for thr price difference and not having to modify.

i may have jumped the gun... i THOUGHT your lever had broken like mine...(pictured).

maybe you had a different issue.... sorry if i commented where i didn't need to chime in.

when i poked around to look for the entire handle i wasn't prepared for the price tag of the entire handle....

so i was referred by a fellow pelican on buying the LEVER only....... for a fraction of the cost i bought the lever and it worked out great for me.

if your LEVER broke (like mine did) this option might be less involved and easily resolved.

oh.... and you're very welcome.

Yeah, those triggers are cast and can weaken/break at the pivot point as above.

No affiliation, but I found these machined from billet a while ago in case this helps someone else here.
