What is the zinc content? How does this compare to PennGrade?

Hi David,
"Valvoline VR1 Racing Oil contains .13% of Zinc and .12% of Phosphorus compared to the Valvoline "Not Street Legal" Racing Oil which contains .14% of Zinc and .13% of Phosphorus." If my math is right, 0.13% is about 1300 PPM (parts per million)" this was found in an oil forum. This oil of course is not recommended if you have cat in your vehicle as it can mess with emissions. Great oil for our aircooled engines. The Penn-Grade 1® oils "typical" 1,500 ppm Zinc (Zn) and 1340-1400 ppm Phosphorus (P) content Btw thanks for the parts you send me! Regular oil back in the 80s and 90s had zinc levels this high and cars had CATS. Zinc was removed from today's oils so the CATS could last the duration of the Federal or CA emissions warranty. High zinc isn't exactly good for a CAT but it won't cause an immediate CAT failure or increase tailpipe emissions.

thanks for the heads up, this worked out to something like 3.33 per quart; hands down the best deal around, it seems. i picked up three cases and saved 1.07 per quart, or 19.26, enough for two lunches at chik-fil-a...
auto zone sells for 5.40 for each quart container. at amazon, the offer at i would add that at amazon it works out to 4.40 per quart, but that is for 3 containers of oil each holding 5 quarts. |

Thank you sir! FLAPS charge as comparison is $8.99 per quart - this deal gives you the full zinc'd VR at $3.33 per quart. Even purchasing the VR-1 in the 5 qrt cannot touch this deal.
Further comparison: I am a Brad Penn user - expensive but unquestionable quality. Use the straight weight in my vintage motorbikes because the cost/benefit is a no-brainer. But for the Pcar, a typical BP 11 quart oil change gets you up around $100.00 with Mahle filter. For around $60.00 with state tax I will now do the same with roughly 7 quarts left over - half of my next oil change and if I am a sharp buyer will hopefully again get this deal. Thanks for looking out for us - really appreciate it!
