Manual Seat adjuster knob wheel help needed.
Hello i am replacing the manual roller wheel adjuster knob and I can not figure out how to remove the little cover plate cap over the replacement knob I bought used. Face of knob Plate is plastic and seems easy to break if I pry on it at all.
See photos. I am afraid it will break if I push on back. Its a old original used wheel / knob. Anyone 100% familiar would be of great help. Thanks ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

It's been a while since I did this, but I'm not sure if that inner plate is removable. I think you just align the 3 spaces in the back of the knob with the 3 tangs on the inner part and then spin the knob until it "locks" into position. I think it is just held in place by friction.
My apologies if this is not correct. As I said, it's been some time since I did this...

Use a round shaft small screwdriver or pick tool inserted into one of the four cutouts and just pop it off.

Eastbay is right. If you gently pry that inner face off, it may be easier to fit the knob on. If you don't want to pry it, can you push it forward from the backside?

Thank you guys for the info. I did the flat screwdriver and pry towards the inside and lift Carefully on each of the 4 holes and slowly worked the plate off.
I did it and managed to only snap 1 of the 8 plastic clips that hold it on so I think with 7 left I am fine. This is a 40 year old knob. They did not make that easy with 8 clips holding on a little plastic plate. THANKS MUCH Last edited by 70tangerine; 12-01-2021 at 04:29 AM.. |
