Fun "IROC" RSR series ? starting in So Cal
With the popularity of vintage and classic racing, a fair number of us here in So Cal have been talking , bought cars, started prepping them for street and track use. So far we have five cars that will be in some of the original IROC colors
Aubergine- Owner JB Black- Owner CT White- Owner SA Jade Green Owner DB Mexico Blue - Owner TM Some of these are street registered here in California. Goals are to drive them on fun tours, time trialing, and vintage racing. It would be a blast participating as a group in various events together (Targa California anyone ?). Livery has to be authentic as the originals, run 9 and 11 x 15 with either Avon or Michelin TB tires. Motor spec is open for the time being as everyone has their own idea on what they like there. Care to join us ? LMK ![]()

Some people will just want to have a cool street driven car, others time trial only, and then some wheel to wheel. And of course all three disciplines too.
If we do it right, we will have a lot of fun

Awesome! Seems like this is how the original 2.0 liter challenge car class was created in the 90s for vintage racing when no one wanted 2.0s. Then the Horsepower wars began and things got out of control, killing the class.

Build them to POC Carrera Spec and slide right in. We already have a white, orange and acid blue (plus two gray). Just replace the duck for an 3.8 decklid when you hit the track

I'm not in SoCal, but I have a SPEC 911 in IROC livery... not street legal, but would love to participate in the track/race stuff. : ) : )
Dave - this is the car I've been bugging you for a 917 style shift knob for my Rennshifter... Love to see people enjoying Porsches of this vintage! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hi Tom
Good looking car . Other than the 964 rocker covers pretty convincing. Absolutely we would like to see you join us when we kick off our Gruppe IROC races next year. I think this will be a LOT of fun On the knob, our artiste will have it ready soon ![]()

POC SCR class cars are pretty close if they put a iroc version bumper and duck on. A lot of them are wide body already with the more aero than the original cars

What is the time frame on these builds being completed?
And are you all going with the original Duck or the Whale they raced with? I have a 74 that's been setting on a lift for years that I was going to backdate. I have recently been thinking of doing a 74 Carrera lightweight build. But being part of a RSR group would be fun. The car is a theft salvage with a 3.0, so no point in restoring. I'd be down for Acid Blue or Yellow-Green. Anyone interested in a EB Motorsports 911R body kit? ![]()

Some of the cars are already up and driving. We hope to engage that outfit back east that is building bespoke IROC builds for clients too. Right now we are looking at January/February time line for several others we know about and have been in contact with.
The momentum will build as more people join in- it will happen ! btw- the SA build will be one of the yellow shades (not the fitti one that Tom shared above - which is narrow body anyway) And yes to whaletails as they raced To be sure we will "run out of colors" from the original 16 scheme palette. There will be duplication and we encourage participants to pick their favorite colors outside the IROC list to as to be unique and fun. The stickers will need to be accurate with the exception of the name decal on the cars: Either put your favorite fan driver on the name, or your own.
