Please help confirm parts
I'm trying to re-add a removed muffler on my 86 Carrera. Since I have AC, I think what I need is bracket 930 111 154 06 and just the right hand muffler strap. I'm concerned that it looks like that bracket will be off to the right and won't line up with the notch in the muffler where the strap should go. Anyone have hands-on experience with it? My understanding of it is that with AC I can't use the centered, smaller bracket because those holes aren't exposed. I guess this configuration calls for just a single strap attachment for the muffler due to the AC.
Thanks! |

My 86 with AC uses both muffler straps. I don't see how having AC would have a bearing on muffler attachment. Can you post a pic to be clear what you are asking ?

In the parts catalog is this diagram:
![]() Part 2 is "Bracket" and part 2A is Bracket for model M559/573. 559 and 573 are both option codes for air conditioner. That's where I got the idea that I need a different bracket if I have AC. The part number for 2A is 930 111 154 06 which leads me to a part on pelican that has no picture. I can only assume it looks like what is pictured in the parts catalog and that appears to have just 1 attachment point for the strap, on the right. The underside of my car looks like this: I see nowhere that I would attach bracket 2, but I assume the 2 holes on the right are where bracket 2A would attach. I think AC must add the shroud over the fan belt, which probably blocks the holes for the muffler bracket. Just guessing. So basically I'm trying to piece together the right solution from bits and pieces of what I can discover on the internet. I did find a picture somewhere of this bracket (bottom of the picture), which is what I assume you have. Maybe that's what the pelican part is that has no picture? It has 2 attachment points for the straps and I think that's what I need. Maybe the parts catalog just has a bad diagram? That part in the diagram looks like the muffler bracket for a 930, but that's not the same part number. ![]() Any light you can shed on this would be appreciated. Putting a muffler on shouldn't be this hard. I'm pretty sure mine isn't the first car to ever have a muffler attached to it. ![]() |

Once you get the correct parts, all will be good and it will look like mine.

Thank you for your pictures! Using your pics I was able to identify the location of the bracket. It's lower than I thought it would be and I couldn't see it behind the exhaust pipe. I now have everything I need to do the job. Thank you!
