3.2 Coupe - Routing wire from trunk to dome / interior lights

I've been diagnosing a fault with my dome / interior lights on my '88 3.2 coupe and now confirmed that there is no 12V on the black wire to each light fitting.

Note that there is continuity between both black wires to both dome lights, but not to the 2-pin (black and brown/white wires) connector in the front trunk area. The brown/white wire from the connector tests fine to both dome lights.

This would lead me to believe that there is a break in the black (12V) wire between the connector and one of the dome lights.

Has any one successfully threaded or fished a replacement wire from the front trunk area, up the A-pillar to the dome light (or vice versa) and, if so, how did you do it?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, i fished a wire down from the light into the front trunk, then tied onto it and pulled wire back up from fuse panel, i think i remember pulling out the gauges to reach the wire, there isn't much room to work with heat/defrost control and master cylinder.

On my 85 the dome light is the same fuse or power source for the glove box light, and the clock. If your dome light and the clock work, then you have a likely break. If they are dead, it may well be the fuse or the little plastic connector.

See the little white plastic connector in the bottom part of the photo? That is a simple plastic connector that I can only assume Porsche put in there to let a technician pull it apart, and kill the power to the dome lights, and the trunk light for working on the car with the trunk lid open or the doors open.

My connector was wonky, so I had to replace it. Double check your connector and fuse.

Thanks for the replies.

The clock and glovebox light work fine, and I have 12V up to the 2-pin dome light (black and brown/white wire) connector from the 5A fuse, but this 12V is not getting to the dome light(s).

Looks like fishing from the dome light to the trunk may be the preferred method? I will give it a go.
