Question re:EPS 911 11-Blade Alternator Fan (245mm Dia)
I have a 77 911S I got a few months ago and I'm trying to reduce engine temps. Has anyone installed the EPS 11 blade fan ? https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/93010601200EPS.htm?pn=930-106-012-00-EPS&SVSVSI=787&fs=0. Just curious about quality of EPS, Porsche OEM fan is impossible to find for a 77.
I measured the engine temp at the point of the oil temp sending unit with an infrared thermometer and it's reading around 225F which agrees with the dash gauge. Going to also check valve clearances and timing which I heard can also effect temperature. I know about the front oil cooler upgrade but I'm trying for a simpler and less costly solution first. Thanks! Tony |

The '77s came with the five blade fan. Just about everyone by now has switched to the 11 blade fan. You should do that. Lots of information about this out there, in our host's book on rebuilding 911 engines, Bruce Anderson's 911 Performance Handbook, and others. I have no idea about the quality of aftermarket parts here, but the Porsche ones do the job.

I'm good with tools.

I did this last week. I was not happy with the fit on my 88. I already had the 11 blade. Was just looking for a fan that was in better shape than mine. I sent the EPS fan back to Pelican for refund and bought a Porsche branded fan. YMMV.

The 5 blade fan came with the largest crank pulley of the time and a reduced size pulley half.
The replacement fan can be any 80-83 fan or Carrera fan. With the large pulley in place you’ll need the 9.5x725 belt. Bruce |

I have the 11 blade EPS fan and it's balanced, fit perfectly and works fine. It looks to be clear coated aluminum and so far I have zero issues with it.
