Trick tire setup for those w 7 &8x16 Fuchs
I was doodling today and came across a really nice setup for those w/ 7 & 8 x16 Fuchs on their SC or Carrera
It compares very favorably w/ similar 15" setups, loosing just over 5lb-ft compared to the 15s ![]()

Man, your doodles are infinitely more informative than mine.
I am considering replacing my OE 8s (951) & 9s currently shod with 225/50-16 & 245/45-16 Trofeo Rs on my M491 with... Fuchs Evolution 8s (951, not available yet) & 9s, to be shod with the same size A052s. Shooting to lose ~3.5 lbs per corner with that setup. Question regarding the A052s. The specs look pretty optimal on paper. I saw a 930 with them mounted and the tread width seemed narrow (vs the rim),, relative to my 245 Trofeos (and RE-11Rs on my other car). Anyone else notice this?

![]() I don't see a 3.5# saving, unless the new wheels are much lighter the difference in tires is 1.4#, .8# f & .6# r, net torque gain is ~2.9lb-ft due to the lighter rear tires the Pirelli 245 has the same tread width but the section width of the A052 is greater, look at the installed specs section, that takes into account the stretch due to the 9s for the front the A052 is a tad narrower in section width but has a wider tread, look at the T/W and installed sections

I haven't weighed Trofeo R vs A052 and Tirerack says 26 lbs vs 25 lbs (although, I doubt they are precisely 1.00 pound apart).
I have weighed OE 9x16 Fuchs vs. the current / new Fuchs Evolution versions... ![]() ![]() ...hence my hopeful 3.5 lb weight loss estimate between the Fuchs Evolution wheels and A052 weight savings vs my current setup. Apologies for hijacking a 7s & 8s thread with talk of 8s & 9s, but the A052 is on the top of my list.

I'll add the AO52's are the go-to choice for the autocross crowd for fastest times.

Here's a related question, what happens if you have a weight different left to right in the rear?
For example, you have one original Fuch and one Evolution Fuch. Does the 2lb difference matter? |
