Oil Thermostat; Whats diff btw 65-71 & 72-89?
I recently picked up and sorting out my 69 T. It had a minor oil leak which I thought was oil cooler but tracing it back, realized it was actually coming down from thermostat. My car came installed with the later thermostat, which makes me ask is that the issue, or is it just the O ring as I suspected. So my question is, will the 72-89 thermostat work correctly on a 69, and why does the earlier version have the threaded stud on the end? What does that do? I need to order parts today so hopefully someone can straighten me out.

As far as I know, they are functionally the same. The threaded unit was adjustable to some degree.

Agree - I've used them interchangeably.
