High idle help

Strange problem I need some help with. I was on about a 30 minute drive on the highway, 4k+ the entire ride. When I slowed at a light the rpm's stayed at 3k. I drove about a mile or 2 this way and no change, couldnt get the car to idle less than 3k.

Stopped car, restarted, same problem. Let it sit for about 45 minutes, same problem. Any ideas? The car is an 81 SC, o2 sensor unplugged and nothing like this has ever happened. I check the throttle cable and it's connected ok, but havent looked much closer than that.

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Chris

Chris, you may want to try unplugging the decel valve. It's located on the right side of the motor under the fuel distributor. You'll want to disconnect the smaller hose.

Check to see if the cruise control cable is interferring with the throttle.
