I'd expect a couple hundred mA max.

Connect an ammeter in series with a battery and the clock and measure the draw. Or measure the clocks resistance and do the math

Probably in this ballpark.

So, depending upon the year, the older clocks (like the ones on a 356) have a coil in there that winds a mechanical mechanism. This then winds down for about 5-10 minutes. When it gets to the bottom, it closes an electrical contact and zip - winds it up again. I have one inside of an old piston on my desk - powered by a AA battery. It can last for months like this.
The newer ones are a bit different, but they still draw almost next to nothing... -Wayne

Wayne. I just made two of the piston clocks for my brothers for Christmas gifts!! Had one from a 77 and 88 911 they fit perfectly into an older 914 cylinder I was grateful to get from MEpstein here.
like all of us, I had literally dozens of those plug in transformers that go to every conceivable gadget... I just wired them up....work perfectly! 12 v , 1 amp. BTW those VDO clocks are some of the most accurate movements I have ever seen . |

I had an aftermarket alarm installed on my ‘73 911. It would go off for no apparent reason. To the alarm installed quite a bit of diagnosing to figure out that the clock drawing current was the culprit.
He put some gizmo on the clock to solve the issue. Unfortunately, the clock became unreliable. Replaced it with a newer clock.

An SC clock takes about 1/10 of an amp intermittently.
