I can't get WOT and I have PMS! HELP!

Yup, I have a Patrick motorsports 18 million dollar throttle cable installed. If I adjusted the nut to shorten the cable sufficiently to get wide open throttle, the idle would be at about 6000 RPM. (A bit high.) When I loosen it up until the motor idles normally, I don't get WOT.

What the heck?

Anybody know what to do next? :(

Moses, I believe that after all that bashing on the 915 trans you did in other posts, your trans has decided to "F" with you. I bet it's moving the throttle bell crank around just to piss you off.

I think you owe it an apology. ;)

check the trottle coupling also. you might need to smash your tablets on this golden idol.

Moses, Moses, Moses....

So, if I understand correctly from your recent posts, when accelerating at WOT your eyeballs were smashed flat against the back of your skull. Your grip on the steering wheel was not to control the beast within but rather to simply keep you from breaking the seat-back and winding up slammed against the back window http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/vuur.gif.

Now, two days later you're concerned that you're not quite getting all she's got??? YOU ARE POSESSED. YOU ARE MESHUGGENEH dear Moses.

OK...just having a little fun...actually I adjusted mine last night and took about 5/8" of free travel out of the throttle. One turn too far, and the idle would'nt settle out. One turn back and all is good. You might want to contact Patrick MS and see if they have ideas. Heck, for $18M (assume that's not Euro's) they ought to be happy to offer some tips. I know that most cables have several adjusting points that need to be "balanced" properly to optimize performance.

Just my uninformed 2 cents worth. Now, back to the morning's activities: http://www.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/yltype.gif

Just as long as you're not wearing a slinky dress and black egyptian wig...just for fun ;)

If the cable adjustment is correct there might be a smaller throttle cam you could use, or can you increase the stroke at the pedal end ?

Check the adjustment at the peddle. Some have had to make adjustments to the stop at the back by cutting it off. I replaced my entire accel.peddle with the AJUSA version so I didn't have the problem of a stop limiting travel.

Does PMS stand for Patrick Motor Sports. If so, it will give me something to laugh at every month.

Yes it does.

There was a classic post a while back when someone asked "How does this PMS part fit?" Thom Fitzpatrick replied " It just does , dammit!"

My go fast peddle had a plastic stop under it.....I pushed on it and had Ingo look at the throttle body....still had some room. Pulled the pedal, ground off the stop, no more problem.

Bench grinders, gotta love them.....:D
