Help installing Tarett Camber Plates
Hi gang - situation is the strut mount on a 1974 coupe with monoballs cracked, see pic. Heard a little rattle from the front end and couldn't find anything amiss, finally found this crack.
Plan is to swap the factory strut mounts for Tarett Camber Plates. Trying to work the struts down through the monoballs isn't working, just not enough travel to get the strut out. Advise to get the struts out? Will pulling the lock pin on the bottom get more clearance? If anyone has installed the Taretts (which look exactly like the ones available from ER), any tips? They came from our host with no instructions. Thanks in advance ![]()

Ira is a great resource.
My car is a '75 but likely different from yours. When I installed these parts I disconnected the bottoms of the struts with the car up on jack stands. Whenever I do this I consider replacing the wedge pin bolts.

Thanks for the suggestion to call Tarret, makes sense. I got the old ones out and got the Tarrets in, wasn’t difficult after fiddling with it for a bit.
Keep an eye in the classifieds, will offer a good deal on this lightly used set that came out ![]() ![]()

looking at the close up they appear to be cast aluminum. I believe the Tarrets are made out of a solid billet. Way stronger. Does anyone have a guess on who made these?
I know the mono balls transfer a bit more energy into this area than the stock rubber.

Interesting. They definitely do look to be cast. Stating the obvious here but, not a great choice.
I bought mine used and I don’t remember if they’re Tarrets but definitely milled from billet aluminum.

Thanks Don, we were aware of that. This car did track time in a previous life and has lots of tweaked suspension bits as a result. These clearly didn’t age well

The monoballs are definitely harsher than the original rubber bushings, couple that with pushing the car harder and I’m not surprised one of these didn’t age well. I’d love to know who made these but no markings aside from L & R The Tarrets are a work of art in comparison. Got them in and loosely centered but I’ll need to get the car in for a proper alignment to do them justice
