Plug wires
With Beru being somewhat subpar these days does anyone have any good ideas on plug wires? The Clewett wires here look ok but wondering if there are any other suggesstions. If you have feedback on those, that would be great too.
I searched and didn't see anything recent in the forums. |

It is strange, I had a terrible experience with Beru on my 2.7 and ended up going with Clewitt and found them fantastic. I recently had the engine out of my 993 for a clutch and thought that was an ideal time to replace the wires. There isn't a lot of choice with the 993 so I went with the Beru OEM. They were really nice and work great. Not saying I would ever uses the earlier Beru wires as they are very poor quality these days but strange how the quality can vary.

Clewett wires in the '70. Far superior to Beru. If I recall correctly they are cheaper too. Cut to proper length and numbered. They are better than just OK.

I thought the Clewetts would fit better in my 73 with a 3.2. Maybe it is my routing but #6 is tight by an inch or two.

Yeah, I had not heard that much about fit and finish for the Clewett's, so this helps. PW are such a PITA, I don't want to go down a road I have to back out of.

I've used clewett on a few cars including an 87 3.2 and my MFI hot rod.
I can't say enough good things about them.

Beru must have had a bad batch. They used to be nice, but I had two bad sets in a row last year. When installed and remove from a spark plug, the insulator would snap clean off. Switched to Clewett and haven't looked back.

Had berus come apart when changing plugs and had to use a hose taped to a shop vac to vauum out the pieces. Happened on 2 different sets.
The clewetts are first class, only gripe is the original rubber holders wont fit

I put a set of Bosch plug wires on my 911 back in 2013. I purchased them on eBay for $70. No braided stainless covers like the Beru wires, but they came with Beru ends, and have functioned perfectly. Just another option.

Purchased brand new Beru's from our host, and they didn't last 6 months before the ends of the spark plug connector just fell apart. Upgraded to Clewett 8mm red and have not had an issue since, engine even idles better. The Beru's are not what they used to be in quality. 100% in favor of Clewett!

I have the Magnecor wires on my 2.7, no issues and good quality. I'll have to look at the Clewett wires with all the great reviews here.

I did finally get to the plug wires this weekend. Thanks for all the previous advice/help. I will say I am very happy with the fit on the Clewett Wires. The drawback being they don't come with any cable organizers and the outer 'mesh' is VERY Fragile. I used some basic plastic clips just temporarily and they did a number on the material.

Clewetts for me as well, made quite a difference in both the SC and the 914. I also used cheap organizers and did not have the same problem as @thsupernge.
