Mounting D. Moris Hardtop on Early 911 Cab
Has anyone mounted one on non-roller latch cab? If yes what’s involved? Can the hardtop be slightly modified to accept the older style J-Hook latch? Thanks!

How much did it cost you? I see that D Morris is in France.

Please share a lot and share often. Very interested in doing this. I’d love to hear about total time from order/payment to receipt of top.
Did you get the cabrio-beach cover too (for summer) or only the hardtop? |

Everything was looking so reasonable until the shipping- Yikes! Sounds like you are doing it right w/all the details and good options. Were the D Morris guys easy to deal with?

I searched all over the web. Some threads go back many years. I noticed shipping kept rising throughout the years. I was in shock with shipping quote and questioned it but that didn’t change it. Asked for a forum discount but came up short again. Figured this is a bad time to buy with rising fuel costs but then figured who knows when a good time will be? I’m obsessed with this car and said heck with it… Communication was ok. I personally do not like how all this works with the wire transfer and airport customs but they seem to be the only vendor making what appears to be a really nice top. |

I bought an OEM hardtop from Porsche. My experience…. To put the hardtop on you first must unbolt the convertible top , to get to the bolts you first have to remove the interior panels. Then two people carefully lift the folding top without scratching the paint or dropping on the car. Step two find a place to store this large unwieldy item. Next, you and a friend lift a huge heavy roof up and over, again doing your very best to put as few scratches as possible. Offer friend a beer for spending the entire afternoon working on your car. After I realized what is involved I sold the cab and bought the coupe that I should have bought from the beginning. Anyway, that was my experience, hopefully yours will be better.
PS: it also whistles from all the air leaking around the seals.

Rob's description above is spot on, except for the whistling part.
The roof can be made quiet by adjusting the different seals, sometimes changing worn ones. I also have a factory roof, that is a great addition to a cab, albeit unwieldy. |

If any out there have one of these (factory or DMorris) unwieldy, heavy, noisy hardtops gathering dust in your garage- and want to convert it to quick $$ - please pm me.

Top has shipped. Should be in flight now. Thinking about adding DP motorsports graphics to hide seam between top and car. What do you think? First pic is my car.

cool project.
I would talk to Dan Petchel the guy that rebuilds targa tops for some illumination. I bet if you source the right hardware is not complicated . Maybe you have to change the latches in the car and leave the top alone. Just brainstorming.... |
