Drove it around the block!!! (930 engine swap)

I just drove my '75 S with 930 Turbo engine around the block for the first time!

I recently got the JC Whitney CIS fuel pressure tester, and it turns out system pressure was about 1 bar low. (For now I'm getting it going with the stock '75 fuel pump. I will plumb in a second Turbo pump, or aftermarket high-pressure pump within the next few weeks).

I spent Friday evening playing with the shims in the fuel pressure regulator of my '77 930 engine to get the fuel pressure within spec - thanks to JW for helping me with this.

After shimming, cold and hot Control pressures also measured OK, and I got the timing set up and advance curve checked out.

Pulled it out of the garage, and away we went! There is still some sort of fuel system problem, bucking under load, but I'm going to get the pumps straightened out before worrying too much about it. I also had the rev cutout on the new Crane box set to 4100, so the revs stayed fairly low. I didnt get on boost at all either.

Anyway, after 9 months of work rebuilding this engine and restoring the car, I NEEDED to get it around the block to keep me going on this project. Such a long time to work, without knowing if the thing was going to run (this was my first engine rebuilt...and engine drop...and electrical wiring experience...etc.).

It runs! Runs badly, but IT RUNS!

Sorry no pictures, my digital camera walked away last week. I'll post some pictures soon.

Good for you I am at about the same point with my 77 911 with a 3.0 swap. Hey by the way do you know were the accessory wire comes from that hooks to the 3 fuse block in the engine compartment? Just thought I would ask.

I recently took my '73 with it's new 3.2 out for its first run. Definately worth the year it sat on jackstands in the garage.
