Porsche Crest Window color wiring scheme for 86?

Turned out my window problems were caused by a dead switch. I took the drivers side passenger switch and put it on the drivers hookups and bingo, it works.

However...I took the passenger/passenger switch out to put it on the driver/passenger and hooked it up. 2 blown fuses later, I gave up trying to wire it correctly.

The drivers/passenger has 2 connections that both are double-wire reds. I think thats where Im getting confused on which one goes where.

** Anybody got the correct Color Wiring scheme for an 86? I need both drivers/passenger switch & passenger/passenger.

Thanks very much!

I replaced the passenger/passenger switch on my 86 a few months ago. If you look at the back of the switch, the connectors are numbered. According to the Bently book these are the connections.

Passenger/passenger
pin 1 blue
pin 2 blue/black
pin 3 red/white
pin 4 brown
pin 5 red/black

Driver/passenger
pin 1 red/white
pin 2 red/black
pin 3 red/blue
pin 4 brown
pin 5 red/blue

driver/driver
pin 1 blue
pin 2 blue/black
pin 3 red/blue (yes it says it is connected to pin5)
pin 4 brown
pin 5 red/blue

In my 86 the passenger/passenger switch was wired slightly different. It works...

Switch Wire
pin 1 blue/black
pin 2 blue
pin 3 red/black
pin 4 brown
pin 5 red/white

No, The pin numbers is not in order. The switch contains male spade connectors on the back and should be labeled.

kb...thanks for the great information. I had done a search for this topic in the archives, and several others were looking for a similar wiring scheme. Maybe this thread can be of service to someone else in the future too.

This is now a problem and Im wondering if any of you guys can help:

1) I took the drivers/passenger switch, put it in the driver/driver and it works.

2) I took the passenger/passenger switch and put it in the driver/passenger, apparently hooked it up (wired) it wrong and blew a fuse. I switch connections and blew a second switch. Trunk was open I heard a small pop and the fuse was gone again.

3) I changed the fuse the second time and created this post which KB helped with wiring recommendations.

4) Today I went out to wire drivers/passenger correctly, with the new fuse. I wired it up and Nothing happens. Passenger window doesnt budge.

5) I took the drivers switch back out and tried it in drivers/passenger. Still nothing. I put the previous switch in the drivers/driver and it works...so I know I have 2 good switches.

6) I then took both of these good switches and put them in passenger/passenger...wired it according to above. Nothing.

** Could I have F-ed something up in the passenger window motor...when I blew those fuses by miswiring 2X back in step 2??

If not....what could be causing me to not get driver/passenger or passenger/passenger to now work? It always worked before I blew the fuses changing the switch.

Help!
