Some "996's" Even I Would Buy!

Personally, I'd rather have one of these sitting in my driveway than the new Carrera GT. Any one of the 3 would be just fine - I'm not picky:

Actually those are labeled as 993's for some reason, despite being watercooled...

Look at the interiors. The GT1 was designed with non 996 looks, but later changed to 996 lamps to "help" the 996 style on its way.

I'd take an early version with round headlamps.

I saw the same thing - classic style interior w/ 5 gauges. I'm guessing they started life 993 based and got updated for marketing reasons?

I would take 2 GT Carrera's for the same price as 1 GT1. One Carrera for the track and one for the street. Or, be able to drive one while the other one is in the shop.

996/993, whatever .... the seller calls them "996"GT1's (and that's what Porsche wanted people to think) - that's why I quoted them. More to the point, the reason I like these is they are essentially full-on race cars slightly detuned for street-legal use. Arguably, the 904 was the last 'race car' sold by Porsche for street use. The Carrera GT?? Great car, great performance but no track history and a bit much in the glitz department for my taste...... -- Curt

2 for the price of one is hard to beat. I would also think it would do really well on the track, not to mention you could do it with the top off.
It would be interesting to see how they would compare on the track.

Yeah, I don't know what the performance stats are, but it would be interesting. I saw a street-legal GT1 at the Rennsport Reunion. It was amazing on the track! -- Curt

Thanks for the link.

Some interesting cars on it. Did you notice this one and do you know what an "Elva" Porsche is?
