Finally - Sound
The weekend I picked up the 88 Targa, and the next two weekends, we had snow in Virginia. Immediately after, I started and completed the fuel line install and injection system refresh. Now that I have had 9 days of driving, I am cautiously optimistic we have a decent baseline, but holy crap the stereo is awful/unintelligible. So today I drove the car to work because my E350 is sidelined waiting for new tires (blowout). The radio sounds like someone singing with a mouth full of water and marbles. At work I pop off a cover and see that both speakers in the door are beyond gone. Roached. At lunch I popped over to the local high end car audio and offloaded more $$s than I wanted and installed the door and tweeters in my parking lot. Look forward to hearing the radio on the drive home.
Went with Focal component door and tweeter. Easy install, the 5.25's were a direct drop in, and just connected the old speaker wire from the head unit to the crossover and they plugged into the tweeter and woofer as separates. Zip ties the wires to top of cross-over and double velcroed under the woofer in the door. (Never drive in the rain...). Took 1.5 hours with shop borrowed tools ![]()
