Is there a 935 spring plate setup thread out there

I've googled, been here, Early 911S, 912BBS, Rennlist. I can't find any thread on setting up and adjusting 935 type spring plates. Anyone have info you can post?
Chris

What specifically are you trying to do?

Which brand of spring plates?

I have extensive experience and can even recommend some tools.

Rebel SWB. I also have monoball bearings and Bilstein coilovers on the trailing arms connected to the body. When first installed I didn't have the jam nuts tight and the top of the wheels rolled in and had about 6 degrees of negative camber. Any experiences with the jam nuts coming loose?
Mike what is your sequence of setting up the rear with these components?
The front is fairly straight forward. Elephant GT3 type front suspension and Bilstein coilovers. All reenforced areas have been undercoated.

The front coilovers have had the springs inverted with the helpers up top. I was getting rubbing on the threads from the collar with the dual perch between the springs and now it is gone.

Feel free to send me a PM.

My car is a race car.

I have done my own set up (alignment and CB) for this car and other trailing arm Porsches for more than 20 years. My first mentors were the guys at Kelly Moss, and there have been many since, including Mat Lowrance at Reno Rennsport and Craig Watkins, the owner of SmartRacing Products and former chief engineer at Flying Lizards Motorsports.

Heck, back in the day, I even got some tips from fellow AXer Ray Scruggs.

All friends.

My car currently has the excellent Eisenlohr Racing Products (ERP) 935-style front set up and Tarett Engineering camber plates.

I installed these parts to more easily accommodate a set-up for the radial slicks I run (12 wide, 16 inch diameter and preferring around -3 degrees or so of camber).

For over a decade prior I ran bias ply slicks that only liked about a degree, and I ran factory control arms and strut tops with no set-up issues.

My car currently has the Eisenlohr Racing Products (ERP) 935-style spring plates as well. For over a decade prior I ran factory spring plates that were modified to allow the modest camber settings preferred by bias ply slicks on my extremely low car.

I could have used them when I switched to radials, but I decided to invest in the ERP spring plates to aid in set up.

In my experience, all 911 cars with all spring plates can lose their rear camber settings in performance driving activities if steps are not taken to ensure that the HW does not loosen. I have posted in various threads here on PP about a simple way to accomplish this.

When I installed my spring plates, I started with a desired camber and toe spec.

I set the ride height close and then CB the car. I use CB specs based on advice from friends with extensive racing experience.

The car has Bilstein RSR coilovers in the rear which makes changing ride height easy.

For rear camber with the 935-style parts, I first had to experiment a bit to get settings in droop that translated to what I wanted with the suspension loaded. Then I had a good starting point to dial in the camber (about -2.5 degrees) with the suspension loaded.

I use scale rolloff platforms which allow me to get under the rear to dial things in.

I do not have a lift.

Once I get the camber dialed, I "lock in" the settings so that the spring plates cannot move relative to the trailing arms.

For rear toe, I use the adjustment feature on the spring plates. HF sell an excellent set of thin metric "service wrenches" that includes the sizes needed for adjusting toe on these plates.

I take very detailed notes and measure everything carefully.

And then I mark everything carefully so I have a quick visual reference to ensure that it is all staying in place.

I use El Cdubs excellent SmartCamber device (I have used one since around 2001), and I use a custom string set up that mounts to my car (similar to the SmartStrings product).

One of my late friends created many of the instructions SRP provided with many of the parts in their catalog.

Here is the instruction he created for the ERP spring plates.

Yes, they recommended red loctite to ensure the toe settings could not easily change.

I have not used red loctite, but I mark everything carefully and watch for any fasteners that may come loose.

Eisenlohr Racing Products (ERP) and Smart Racing Products (SRP) and the folks at Jerry Woods Engineering/Jerry Woods Motorsports have extensive experience with Porsches, including experience with the extreme requirements of money-is-no-object endurance and sprint racing.

Lots of "area under the curve."

Great people too!

Thanks Mike.
I stopped by Jerry's shop (JWE) about 3 months ago and we talked for a couple hours. He is a good friend of Clint Smith of Rebel Racing and helps him with product design.
There's a good chance I'll give you a PM.
Chris
