What are these little turds?
For several years I have found little cylindrical carbonized poop like substance...Its not from any animal. Its hard like carbon. Most concentration is the air intake filter. However it makes its way around and some settle under the oil pressure sending unit. The only thing I do know is the the KN filter was not inserted properly. It was facing back wards. Could this had been produce from inside the engine? Has any one seen this before?

They are the pellets from the carbon canister in the engine compartment, must have broken open or cracked.

Should be just above/forward of the oil tank. Black plastic cylinder.

The canister is to the right of the Airbox - in the engine bay - on the inside of the fender.
You may want to remove the Air filter and inspect inside the air box, since when these go, they can be vacuumed into your intake. There's at least one other thread on here.

It must have been removed or blown up cause I can not find it...I removed the air filter...nothing. Is is next to the oil tank? Some one have a pic? I looked in my Porsche manual and it doesn't show it.

Tidybuoy that's exactly what they look like. I wonder if I trashed the engine. I'm in the process of found a top end.

Check up inside the right side upper rear wheel well, sometimes they are located there (if that is not a charcoal canister then what is it?).

Rattlesnake...there she is right where you said. I dont see a hole in the hose going to the airbox. Since my air filter was not installed correctly thats the most likely reason why the pellets were following out from underneath the air filter covering and lying around in that area. Now how much damage did the engine receive from pellets and dirty air? I was planning on doing a top end due to smoke and oil consumption. I had great compression although I haven't retested for a couple of years. Do you think those little pellets just destroyed my engine?

While mine is in the engine bay (83 body), I end up putting mesh screen on all 3 ports that has line connected to them.
I got steel "sink aerator" from Lowe's, fold them over the port and slide the hose over. 1$ a piece. Do not use nylon one.
