Porsche Crest Shop w/ Recaro seats to sit in?

Hey All,
I want to sit in Recaro Pole Position seats. I am about to put them in my '69 911T and want to feel it before I buy them.
Any ideas in Los Angeles area??

Thanks
Andy

Agreed awesome seat for “spirited” driving but not the most comfortable for cruising around. I think they make two sizes one for waists up to 34 the other up to 38.

Call Evasive Motorsports. They are a Recaro distributor and have a lot of stuff in stock.

The Pole Position has a more open design and should fit your size. There isn't a lot of leg bolstering. They make two versions of the pole position, one for racing that is FIA certified and one for the street that has clearance for factory seat belt. The biggest issue is if you want to install racing harnesses the holes in the back of the seat are very low. They will hold the belts at an unsafe angle for taller drivers or those with longer torsos. Cobra makes similar seats (Imola and Nogaro) with the belt holes in a taller position. Sube Sports in Huntington Beach is their distributor.

6'2", 220lbs seems like it'll be too tight for the FIA version. What's your waist size?

The ABE seat is wider in the hip section. It's likely the better call...

More info here: https://gsmperformance.co.uk/recaro-pole-position-abe-vs-pole-position-fia/

I find the seats quite comfortable ergonomically. I've driven SD to SF without issue, but with seats, your mileage may vary.

You're welcome to try the Pole Position Classic ABEs in my car on for size. Come down to North County San Diego, or, depending on your timing, I occasionally make my way to LA for stuff.

Pole Position Carbon ABE in black Napa leather porn...

I'm also working on documenting Pole Position install on a later G Body, so this may be useful...

Recaro Pole Position '87 Carrera install best practices? Southbound Trimmers mounts?

Finally, FIA is available in velour, ABE available in different upholstery options, including leather. When Recaro announced the Classic line in early 2020, I was complelled to pull the trigger...

6' and 200lbs; they are in a 930 and I find them very comfortable in all respects. They were in the car when I bought it and I had been wary of the fixed rear upright with no adjustability but a few hours in the car at a time has been fine. Co-pilot thinks they are great. Only downside is the lack of grace negotiating the bolster getting in and out - getting old.

First...Thanks to all...so great to have good feedback from the community...should have reached out sooner!

My waist is 36"....I want to have the FIA version. I don't want to be limited if I do any track stuff where it's required.
I also thought about the the Profi...the XL version.

Is this for a trailered race car that you're competing in? Or a street car that you'll "commute" to / from the tack in?

The FIA is gonna be tight. Might be ok for 20 minute sessions during DE / track days, but could prove untenable for longer stints / commuting to the track / road trips. You're gonna have to sit in one to make a determination. Even then, you won't know if the PP FIA will work for you until it's battle tested.

You'll only need FIA certification for sanctioned racing. The ABE is totally legit for 99.9% of DEs run by any car club, or private track event organizer (Hooked On Driving, Trackmasters, Chin Motorsports, etc.). Check with who you want to race / run with to be certain.

My reference for this is almost 20 years old, but Galen Bieker's shop Werks II in Burbank used to have a row of seats you could try out. If that's the closest option, I'd call or email first. 818-845-2530 or sales@werks2.com.

I didn't get them from Galen, but I have the Pole Position SPGs in leather. I added my own (home-sewn) houndstooth covers for the center pads.

I'm 6'2", about 205, 36 waist, and find the FIA to fit okay. There are much more supportive and safer seats for track duty than the pole position. The low side bolsters of the pole position make it easy to climb in and out of, that's why it's good for a mostly street car.
