Seatbelt: What to Choose? Rennline? Lakewell? Seatbelt Planet?
Does anyone have experience with the Rennline or Lakewell seatbelts? Has anyone done a comparison or review?
I'm looking to replace my seatbelts and don't want to spend what OEM will cost so I'm trying to find another option. I've seen a few posts about SeatbeltPlanet but very little on the Lakewell and Rennline options. What are everyone's thoughts? Thanks |

Seatbelt Planet is 5 miles from my house. I walked in there and talked to them about the seatbelts on my 1986 El Camino. They sold me a complete set of seatbelts that are a perfect color match to the interior. The built all the seatbelts right there in their facility, and they don't just resell Chinese crap. It took them a couple of weeks to assemble my new seatbelts.
My El Camino has 375,000 miles and the driver's site was frayed and simply worm out. I don't know what they offer for Porsches as I did not ask.

I bought Rennline belts for my 1977 last year. They're nicely made and easy to install.

Seatbelt Planet does a great job, I ordered Cobalt Blue to match my Albert Blue, on my 1970 911T.
Easy to install and a great update. +1

The more I look at both the Rennline and Seatbelt Planet ones, they look like they may be the same. Does anyone know if Seatbelt Planet makes them for Rennline?
That said, hopefully someone will chime in that has bought the Lakewell seat belts. I'd really like to know their thoughts |

I'm waiting on seatbelts from the Planet now for my 914. Glad they worked out for you and made locally.

Seat Belt Planet will also re-web your existing hardware. I think that's a good option if you have a car with the receiver mounted to the floor and you don't want to wrestle changing that out.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about Seatbelt Planet. I believe they’ll also do custom accent stitching.

It was obvious they were not really set up for on site sales. They had to figure out how to take a credit card handed to them. They have no counter sales person. It is a nice building.

My seat belts from Seatbelt Planet are fine. They were the only ones I could find that had shoulder harnesses to fit a 65/66 912.
The belts came with mounting hardware that didn't fit. I sourced hardware from somewhere else. I was happy to get replace the old and original seat belts. There are a few differences. The width is smaller. The buckle is smaller. They have an annoying habit of loosening over time. I often find myself reaching down and pulling the lead tight. I have yet to carefully look into it to see if I can tweak the buckle/roller

Last week I sent my driver side belt/hardware to Safety Restore for web replacement - they turned it around in less than 24 hrs, with matching webbing and re-sewn original tag.
I couldn't be more pleased... ![]() Jason

Seatbelt Planet is my first stop now. I've put a set in a 80s 911, 80s Ford van, an MGB, classic Mini, and soon a longhood 911. They know what they're talking about even with weird cars, use quality parts, and are just good to deal with. They'll even send you some samples if you are unsure of color.
Reminder that all seatbelt bolts in the US are 7/16-20 UNF by law, regardless of hex head size. |

I've got Rennline seatbelts in my '81. They're nice enough, but the inertia lock on them is terribly mis-calibrated. Both drivers and passenger belts require repeated attempts (pull, loosen, pull, loosen, pull, click) to get it out far enough to use. If I could do it over, I'd probably go with a different brand.
