Rennline dash backdate kit?? Anyone install it yet?
Has anybody installed the new Rennline Dash Backdate kit? Curious how it came out and if anyone recommends it? If so any photos would be great.
Thanks! Rennline Dash Backdate Kit-Rennline, Inc. |

I made something similar for about $1000 less using their lower dash cover for $125 and then a trim kit available many places and some vinyl. My process and result is here starting at post 52:
so this is how a backdate project starts... Their dash cover was not an exact fit for my 1985. |

I did a dash back date for about $100.
![]() I decided not to polish the aluminum trim and opt'd for a bead blasted look to match my WEVO shifter. The material was scrap from my seats.

Very similar, however I trimmed the bottom piece in order to retain the stock knee pads and ash tray.

I ended up buying Rennline Dash Backdate Kit when they had their big sale in April. I will start a separate thread on the build adventure

Has anyone installed the kit on a 1986 -1989 car? The vents on the ends of the dash are sized differently than the earlier models. I’m not sure how the overlay fits without cutting the frame out that the old vents sat in.

I used the Rennline kit, its well thought out and complete. Yes you can pull together your own, but to be frank I didn't have the patience to do that.
I modified it slightly. 1. I had it wrapped in leather 2. I powder coated the aluminum strips a light blue to match the rest of the dash. ![]() |

I spoke with Rennline tech support and the black overlay in the kit is good for up to 1985. It’s not good up to 1989 as advertised. They said they are going to change the description for up to 1985 on the website.

Shame no now makes them with teh vent holes cut. Seems like an easy thing to do when they are cutting the other holes. Word of warning, the Stuttgart Classica page say they have some for no-vent cars and a separate option for “thin vent cars.” They thin vent just has the heater control hole cut, and has nothing to do with eh vent holes. You still have to cut your own.
