Looks to me however that the issues reported are tied to the 993 DME unit which had an engineering compatibility issue - not a hardware failure.

I've not found anything here on the Pelican site that references any solid state DME failures.

I had a solid state relay failure on my 86 a few weeks ago.
Car died all of a sudden on my way home from the mountains. Car wouldn’t turn over at all. Luckily I had a spare oem relay in the glovebox. Pulled the seat back and put the oem in and the car fired right up.
