Front bumper/smile angle
I disassembled the front end of my car for painting. The painter discovered at some point in its past that my car had been in an accident and that the mounting point for the bumper impact absorber was moved/welded in order to get the front bumper aligned with the hood/fender. The painter thought it would be wise of himself to cut that weld and reattach the mount to its original position. Unfortunately he didn't repair the small bend in the side panel of the frunk and now the bumper will not align to the fender.
I have been shimming the impact absorber and I've gotten good alignment between the bumper and fender. However, now I'm second guessing this effort because I'm noticing that the angle of the front bumper creates a flat spot in the "smile" trim. I'm not sure how 'flat' the smile/bumper should be. The bellows still attach to the bumper and small quarter panel. Can anybody comment on this photo to let me know if this is within tolerance? The smile isn't yet screwed in (waiting for a new one to be delivered). |
