It's perfect, English scientists use it to calibrate their instruments!

Got it nailed last night! It is torqued down and ready to rock. I am so happy to be done with this phase. To be honest, using the turbo mount made all the difference. Getting it on is a PIA but the results were worth it. Actual measurements have everything within 1/4" everywhere. Now I just need to decide what to do about my wastegate. P.S. it was a year ago tomorrow that I put her down for the year with the bad clutch.

Yes, I have found that barley soda actually improves the thought process. I think it's got something to do with shortening the synaptic gaps in the brain. Thats what I am going with till someone can prove me wrong

What to do with the wastegate?

I'll give you two two options:

1. Route it to left exhaust-outlet. Cut a small hole at the end of outlet it and weld it to it. It would look clean but require some welding. It's also heavier and removing wastegate will require unbolting output pipe.

2. Preffered way: just cut wastegate-output pipe and weld on small curved segment, blowing it right straight out to the left. That's the way i had it. It's perfect: no complicated welding needed, it's light , won't disturb exhaust flow (not that 1. would do it either) and you can remove wastegate any time you want w/o fiddling with exhaust.

You won't shoot any flames trough wastegate (despite popular belief) but it will get little louder. Actually, the more you boost the quieter abnd more high-piched it is.

P.S. Intercooler and boost-controller would do wonders for your car...probably 100hp worth of it

Yes, the Ultra is a staple of my low carb diet. 15lbs in 3weeks so far. On the wastegate, I have my original but it is in sorry shape. I would go with Tial but I don't like that the flanges need adapters. Hmmm

As another note, I may take some grief for this but... I reused my original fasteners on the turbo flange. They are very snug and I used 1500 degree antiseize. On the turbo to muffler I used new studs with brass nuts, for those of you that have questioned their strength I ask if you have ever torqued one down as they feel very solid. We shall see but I don't see anything going anywhere.

Nuts can be made of weaker material as compared to the bolts or studs as they have more cross-section to carry the tensile load. Nuts ideally should be tough and plastic (in the metallurgical sense); if your brass nuts didn't yield or fail during torquing you are probably okay. Cheers, Jim

I think I'm fine, but I appreciate any thought on the matter. I now have a long weekend and no parts as I have been working on this and forgot my weekly (so it seems) order from Pelican.
