Collapsing WIX 51515R oil filter

I’m hoping I may get some advice please. The engine is a 2L vintage race motor with a 3.2 oil pump, remote Mocal filter console, and Penn 20w/50 oil, run in this configuration for many years. Last year I started using the WIX racing filter, and had the seal blow out. I put it down to poor installation on my part. I have just removed the new ( two weekend) filter, and noticed the metal baffling has collapsed inwards. I heat the sump tank oil before cold starts, and try to avoid revs on starts. But this morning I heard from a race mechanic who just found the same thing on his race car, and he thinks the filter ports may be too small on the WIX, allowing big pressure build. I know this filter is widely used and well regarded, but does anyone know of another with bigger ports?
Or do I have another issue?
Thanks very much, Gavin
