Fuel hose size?
I've done some searching and can't find a clear answer on this question.
The fuel line in the picture below, from the bottom of accumulator to return bracket, anyone know the size (ID) of the polyamid hose? Mine has been patched together by the PO using questionable methods and I'd like to replace it. I am going to purchase the raw polyamid hose from somewhere but I don't know the ID. Is it 6mm, 4mm, 3mm, something else? The car is an '80 SC w. lambda. ![]() Cheers! Cortney |

Cortney,
The 6-mm ID polyamide plastic tube will work for the fuel accumulator bottom fitting. Are you aware that the polyamide fuel line/s require some special tooling unlike a fuel injected rated rubber hose? While the return lines are under low fuel pressure during its normal operation, it could get as high as 100+ psi. in the event of a return line getting totally blocked or clogged. Pressure test the newly fab return line at 120 psi. before using it for safety protocol. Tony |

Tony - thanks for the reply with the hose size.
I am aware of the pressures, and will bench test my fix before relying on it in the car. What special tooling is required? |

![]() ![]() The Return Line that connects under the Accumulator is 0608, meaning 6mm ID x 8mm OD..... This is tube very inexpensive to buy but very difficult to install. I am working on a Main Return for an 80 SC now..... ![]() The Accumulator Line is shown on the Left. This model year has an extra line that connects to the frequency valve. If any CIS lines are needed I am happy to help, but this requires your sending the Return assembly to me. I have the special tools for this. You may email me: len.cummings @ verizon.net but please, NO pm's, my box is FULL. Len ![]() |

![]() ![]() Here is a better photo of the 0608 Line..... This is a "one-time" only fitment, as you cannot remove the old tube easily, and fitting the new tube is even more difficult without a fixture. Have fun. Len ![]() |

Cortney, You are not saving much by doing your fuel line/s. Contact Len Cummings and order the FA fuel return line and not worry about it. Tony |

Guys - thanks for your responses. When the time comes, I will get in contact with Len. In the mean time, I wonder if I can just use a quick connect fuel union?
For reference, here's what I was left with from the PO. Not very confidence inspiring! Interestingly though I'm not having any hot start issues so that tells me its holding pressure...for now. ![]() Thanks! Cortney |

This is easy to do. Have done a bunch.
Here is a snip from the service manual ![]() Here is a home made tool to clamp the line to install the fittings (many other posts on Pelican on how to make and use) ![]() |

![]() ![]() FYI - A bit of info as I remake a set of CIS Lines for a 1980 SC with Lambda..... This fitting that connects to the Frequency Valve is unique, and I cannot buy this anywhere. The assembly is NLA from Porsche. ![]() This Polyamide line is ONLY for 1980 SC models. 81>83 have steel lines and do not use this. I am working on a special order of these special and unique Polyamide fittings in case anyone needs a replacement. For info, please email me. len.cummings @ verizon.net ![]() |
