Heat Exchangers
Hey Guys. I have an 83 SC out of Europe. I need to replace my thin flange heat exchangers (Can’t go SSI due to CA smog ☹️). Does anyone know the difference between Part # 930.211.025.00 for US 3.0 1978-1979 and Part # 930.211.025.01, which are on my car? They look the same to me. I ask because I found a really nice pair of the former. Thanks in advance!

Watch for size of the flange, some are thick some are thin and problem then is the studs.
Looks like the .01 is the latest configuration of that part number. Check in the Porsche genuine Classic Parts - PET catalog https://content.us.porsche.com/prod/pag/Classic/ClassicExplorer.nsf/ClassicPartsExplorer?ReadForm&country=international refernceded From flatsixes.com - THE FINAL TWO DIGITS 000-000-000-XX These are known as the “modification number”. For the most part, Porsche produced parts end in a pair of zeros. When you see something other than these two zeros it means there has been a modification to the piece from its original production run. This could me a minor change in the material specification, or even a significant change in the exterior dimensions of the part. Either way, each subsequent modification will receive a new part number with an incrementally higher modification digit. Often, these modifications are completed before the part is even installed on a production-line automobile; however, occasionally there are super sessions that will replace an earlier number. |

i thought only 78 and 79 were thin flange and then they went to thick flange after, i would say if your 83 is thin, then you should be good with 78/79 exchangers... i wonder if it was different in europe ?

Thank you for the input. I also think they will fit. Seems likely they are specific to 78/79 because they are thin flange, which is what I have. I’m also pretty sure all euro SCs had thin flange. If anyone else has something to add, please do. Thanks again!
