Re-installing AC on a 3.2 Carrera
Considering re-installing factory AC on my 86 Carrera.
The car now has backdated heat. Does anyone know if the factory compressor stand will co-exist with the right side air duct? TIA Brian |

Uncertifiable!!!

Remember that the compressor stand is made up of two brackets- the main one which bolts onto the front right face of the motor and a stabilizer small bracket which bolts onto the top side on top of cylinder 4 and 5, and, onto the back of the main bracket. Rear tin may have to be cut out a bit for the main bracket if it’s not the original.
There are some good alternatives today to improve the mediocre A/C of the earlier cars. Cheers, Johan

Thanks Johan
I have the original brackets and rear tin so those should fit. The PET shows a third support brace #13 in the diagram ![]() My concern is interference with the duct for back-dated heat, which is not original to my car. |

Yes, forgot about #13. I backdated the heat when I converted my 3.2 to a 3.4 Turbo. It all worked out although the air outlet tin under the A/C bracket is smaller in diameter than the hose diameter required for the heat 930 exchanger end. So a bit of that self sealing electrical tape for reinforcement and double clamps where in order.
