89 Carrera AC

89 Carrera

What does the thing in the front drivers side wheel well do. I assume when charging or checking the AC its done from the rear.

Thanks,

It's the dryer. Keeps the circuit clear of humidity. Needs to be changed whenever AC circuit is open.

Yea, it is the Receiver-Dryer. It has a descant to trap moisture in the system. If you open the system to the atmosphere, replace it. It is not real expensive, but vital it is fresh.

Got $300 of coolant added to the system. AC works for the first time in years.

I have run the Griffith's A/C system since 2008 and it works great in the Alabama Summers which reach the upper 90s (low 100s this week) and plenty of high humidity. If you decide to upgrade at some point to get vent temps in the low 30s, take a look at his system.
