Tires got mounted - 235 in front, 275 in rear

Quilted engined bay sound pad and the rear suspension starts to go in

And finally - my partner in crime fitting the front Brembo GT brakes.

Our plan over the next few days is to finish the rear suspension and brakes and get the car rolling. Then we will keep plugging away at the wiring (fusebox is already wired and gauges getting there), Classic retrofit Electric A/C, oil cooling upgrades and then start to put the interior together.

I'll try to do a little better updating this thread!

Any details on the quilting process for that sound pad, did you start with a factory pad and stitch the overlay, what material did you use for the overlay, etc...?

Awesome build and great pics as well. Keep it coming!

Subscribed. Great build, that rear pad looks top notch, is it heat rated? Small details like that always get my vote.

I wish it was more complex, lol… Sonderworks. $299 and came in 3 days. You can pick the stitching color and the fit / finish of it is insane!

Thank you very much. It is heat rated. Made by sonderworks. Really happy with it.

I hope you're planning on pulling the studs out of all the hubs and chucking these in the lathe to clean up mating surfaces. If they're assembled like this you'll run into loose rotors and wheels with the first real bit of brake heat.

Thanks for pointing that out. We are working through that…. We test fitted the rotors last night and realized we had some work to do after we started thinking about it. Definitely goofed that one up but it can be addressed.

We are definitely making progress. We have been fortunate to have great people helping us and the stars have aligned on all the schedules for the work we outsourced.

Is your concern the wheel studs (they were masked off) as well or the just the hub / rotor mating surface?

Be sure the contact points on the fan housing are sanded bare so that the alternator can ground itself properly through the housing to the case.

Thank you for the heads up. We did mask all of that but I am going to check it all to make sure! Kind of important. Haha.

Took your advice. Had the hubs machined this afternoon at the local muffler shop. Realized what you are saying - metal to metal contact is important in an application such as this.

Hey Marc! You coming to Smokies GT 2023? An air cooled event for current Smokies members is being discussed right now as well.
