![]() ![]() Circled in blue you can see the moulding coming off the body. Any tips on replacing the rubber stopper/fastener that holds down the moulding through the adhesive seal and into the body? I've tried a couple adhesives, but nothing is keeping this piece of moulding from popping back-up. My next attempt will be with butyl tape. The adhesive seal dried out and flaked off, and the rubber stopper/fastener holding the trim down into the body deteriorated. I haven't had search-luck on finding an answer on this topic in the forums or on the web. |

That trim on a targa has a fastener that is accessed from inside the wheel well.
To remove it completely the glass has to come out. So hopefully you can simply add the missing nut. |

5 minute epoxy gel. It will take some degree of expansion & contraction and vibration. Don't think regular epoxy will survive there. Trick is the surfaces that make contact need to be extremely clean for this to make & keep contact. Gel is good to work with as it doesn't "flow."
To be sure, we're talking about part #18 below. Sounds like your #20-21 are gone... and the prong??? ![]() 5 Minute gel sample: ![]() Am not promoting this brand. I do happen to use this stuff. Excellent adhesive as far as I'm concerned. .

Thanks for the tips! Sealant that ‘flows” is not fun.
This is the part and number: emblem retainer W99959142303. This lil piece keeps the moulding/trim seated. Once my 911 was on the lift I did not need to remove the tire. The tire sagged down enough. Looking up above the tire and into the fender, I could see the hole where the moulding trim pin fits once pressed down. I was able to place the emblem retainer in the hole and press the trim down into it. I was not able to see the pin, but could place the retainer by holding it in place. |
