Failing chain tensioner 2.7 911 1977

My 1977 2.7 911 has developed a knocking and on inspection one of the chain tensioners appears to be very easy to depress
Can someone confirm that I shouldn’t be able to press the post into the tensioner as easily as I now can
Thanks

Thanks that’s good news in a way as it explains the knocking and I think I’ve got away with any major damage

Garage
I’ve got the same car which has developed knocking lately. I hear it especially from idle to ~3,000 rpm.
Thanks

To answer your question, no you shouldn’t be able to press in a tensioner easily. When they are healthy it takes a lot of force to push it in.
