3.2 AC Blower Resistor
Hey, folks. The AC in my 3.2 has started burning fuses whenever I turn it on for a few seconds. AC worked beautifully - well as beautifully as these cars do - as of a week ago. Guessing the problem is either the AC control switch itself, or the blower motor resistor, and more likely the latter. Only problem is that I can't find the damn thing. The Bentley manual indicates it's under the right-seat footrest, but when I pull that I find what appears to be the condenser relay which would control how cold the AC blows, not how hard. I'm assuming that's what it is, anyhow.
I haven't pulled the drivers' side. Can't find a diagram of the location of the resistor, and I'd like to check it out before I order parts. Does anyone know the location of the resistor? Photos of the part would also be welcome and incredibly helpful.

Remove carpet and wooden foot rest on passenger side. You'll find an almost square thing held by 4 screws as far as I remember. This is the thing. It has two wound resistors with thermostatic blades.
Not sure this is the cause of your problem anyway. Even if it were shorted, it wouldn't cause your fuse to blow, unless shorted to ground of course. |
